✨ Technical Specifications

Crafted only in exceptional vintages, 'Aro' represents the absolute pinnacle of Bodegas Muga’s winemaking artistry in Rioja Alta. The name itself pays homage to Haro, the historic wine capital where the Muga family has coopered their own barrels and aged legendary wines since 1932. Unlike traditional Riojas, Aro embraces a modern, deeply concentrated expression, combining roughly 70% Tempranillo with an unusually high 30% of Graciano sourced from ancient, low-yielding bush vines planted in the clay-limestone soils of the Obarenes Mountains. Fermented in small oak vats and aged for 18 months in brand-new French oak, the wine is clarified using traditional fresh egg whites before bottling. It tells a story of meticulous craftsmanship, where the centuries-old heritage of the Barrio de la Estación meets a bold, contemporary vision of Rioja's terroir.

🍾 About the Producer

Founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño, Bodegas Muga is one of the most revered and historic family-run wineries in Spain, situated in the legendary Barrio de la Estación in Haro within the Rioja Alta subregion. The bodega remains steadfastly dedicated to traditional winemaking methods, being one of the few producers to maintain its own in-house master cooperage, crafting all fermentation vats and aging casks from fine oak, alongside practicing natural clarification through egg-white fining. Muga's portfolio harmoniously bridges classic elegance and modern expression, celebrated worldwide for iconic, long-aged cuvées such as Prado Enea Gran Reserva, Seleccion Especial, and the contemporary powerhouse Torre Muga, in addition to acclaimed Conde de Haro sparkling wines and expressive Rioja whites and rosados.
