✨ wine.spec_sheet

Crafted only in exceptional vintages, 'Aro' represents the absolute pinnacle of Bodegas Muga’s winemaking artistry in Rioja Alta. The name itself pays homage to Haro, the historic wine capital where the Muga family has coopered their own barrels and aged legendary wines since 1932. Unlike traditional Riojas, Aro embraces a modern, deeply concentrated expression, combining roughly 70% Tempranillo with an unusually high 30% of Graciano sourced from ancient, low-yielding bush vines planted in the clay-limestone soils of the Obarenes Mountains. Fermented in small oak vats and aged for 18 months in brand-new French oak, the wine is clarified using traditional fresh egg whites before bottling. It tells a story of meticulous craftsmanship, where the centuries-old heritage of the Barrio de la Estación meets a bold, contemporary vision of Rioja's terroir.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño, Bodegas Muga is a legendary family-owned estate located in the historic Barrio de la Estación of Haro, in the Rioja Alta region of Spain. Renowned for its uncompromising adherence to traditional winemaking methods, the winery is one of the few in Spain to maintain its own active cooperage, crafting and maintaining all of its oak vats and casks on-site. Muga's philosophy centers on natural clarification using fresh egg whites and extensive oak aging to produce wines of exceptional elegance, structure, and longevity. The estate is celebrated for iconic expressions such as the classically styled Prado Enea Gran Reserva, the modern and powerful Torre Muga, and the refined Conde de Haro sparkling Cava.
