Bodegas Muga, situated in the historic Barrio de la Estación in Haro, Rioja Alta, is one of the region's most revered family-owned estates. Founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño, the winery maintains a rare commitment to traditional craftsmanship, being one of the few in Spain to employ an in-house master cooper to handcraft all of their oak vats and barrels. The Muga Blanco is a beautiful expression of white Rioja, typically blending Viura with smaller portions of Malvasía de Rioja and Tempranillo Blanco. Grown in clay-limestone soils under a climate influenced by both Atlantic and Mediterranean breezes, the grapes undergo fermentation and brief aging on the lees in new French oak barrels.
