✨ wine.spec_sheet

Hailing from the historic Barrio de la Estación in Haro, Bodegas Muga is one of Rioja’s most revered traditional estates, founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño. The Muga Reserva is a masterclass in classical Rioja Alta winemaking, distinguished by the estate's rare commitment to absolute oak integration—Muga remains one of the few wineries in Spain with its own master cooper to handcraft every barrel. This red blend is typically dominated by Tempranillo, supported by Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano, grown on clay-limestone and alluvial soils. Fermented in large wooden vats, the wine undergoes 24 months of aging in custom oak casks followed by at least 12 months of bottle refinement. Traditional egg-white fining is still practiced, yielding a wine of exceptional elegance, balancing ripe red fruit, sweet spices, and a signature earthy complexity.

🍾 wine.about_producer

Founded in 1932 by Isaac Muga and Aurora Caño, Bodegas Muga is a legendary family-owned estate located in the historic Barrio de la Estación of Haro, in the Rioja Alta region of Spain. Renowned for its uncompromising adherence to traditional winemaking methods, the winery is one of the few in Spain to maintain its own active cooperage, crafting and maintaining all of its oak vats and casks on-site. Muga's philosophy centers on natural clarification using fresh egg whites and extensive oak aging to produce wines of exceptional elegance, structure, and longevity. The estate is celebrated for iconic expressions such as the classically styled Prado Enea Gran Reserva, the modern and powerful Torre Muga, and the refined Conde de Haro sparkling Cava.
