✨ wine.spec_sheet

Niepoort's Coche Branco represents the pinnacle of dry white winemaking in the Douro Valley, born from Dirk Niepoort's ambitious vision to craft a Portuguese white with the mineral precision and grandeur of Burgundy's finest estates—a nod subtly reflected in its name, which pays homage to the legendary Domaine Coche-Dury. Sourced from field blends of ancient vines (over 80 years old) perched at high altitudes of over 600 meters in the cool, schist-laden soils of the Douro, this wine defies the region's reputation for intense heat. Primarily composed of Rabigato, Codega do Larinho, and Arinto, the grapes undergo a slow fermentation and aging process in lightly toasted French oak barrels. This careful upbringing preserves a striking, crystalline acidity and a deep, mineral-driven core, resulting in a white wine of unparalleled elegance, complexity, and structural tension.
