Niepoort's Colheita Ports represent the pinnacle of single-vintage Tawny Port craftsmanship. Unlike Vintage Ports which age in the bottle, Colheitas spend their lives maturing in seasoned oak casks, known as pipes, in the historic lodges of Vila Nova de Gaia. This slow, oxidative aging process, lasting a minimum of seven years and often spanning decades, coaxes out a mesmerizing spectrum of dried fruits, toasted nuts, butterscotch, and exotic spices. The grapes—a traditional field blend of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and others—are sourced from low-yielding, ancient vines clinging to the steep schist terraces of the Douro Valley. Under the watchful eye of the Niepoort family, these wines are celebrated for their remarkable balance of rich concentration and vibrant, refreshing acidity, a hallmark of the house style.
