Niepoort's Vintage Ports represent the pinnacle of the house's traditional winemaking philosophy, sourced primarily from ancient, low-yielding field blend vineyards in the Cima Corgo region of the Douro Valley, including the legendary Vinha da Pisca. For special commemorative releases like a Jubilee Vintage, only the most exceptional parcels containing field blends of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Francisca, and Tinta Roriz are selected. The grapes are traditionally foot-trodden in historic granite lagares at the Vale de Mendiz winery to achieve optimal extraction of color and structured tannins. Following a brief aging period in large wooden vats to preserve its intense fruit profile, the wine is bottled unfiltered. This artisanal process yields a remarkably concentrated, muscular, and deeply complex Port designed to evolve gracefully over decades.

Niepoort blev grundlagt i 1842 af Franciscus Marius van der Niepoort og er et ikonisk, uafhængigt familieejet hus med base i Vila Nova de Gaia og dybe historiske rødder i Portugals Douro-dal. Huset har i over et århundrede været berømt for sine skelsættende Colheita- og Vintage Ports, men gennemgik en dynamisk renæssance under femtegenerations-visionæren Dirk Niepoort, der banede vejen for den moderne æra af uforstærkede Douro-bordvine i absolut topklasse. Med en kompromisløs forkærlighed for gamle vinmarker med field blends, minimal intervention i vinfremstillingen og et unikt terroirudtryk skaber vinhuset hyldede tørre vine som Batuta, Charme og Redoma sideløbende med nyere projekter i Bairrada og Dão. I dag står Niepoort som et globalt beundret pejlemærke for portugisisk vinkunst, der ubesværet forener en tidløs portvinsarv med innovative, elegante og mineralske bordvine.
