Ladredo is a remarkable collaborative project born from the friendship and shared vision of Dirk Niepoort and Pedro Rodríguez of Adega Guímaro. This red wine is sourced from the steep, slate-strewn terraces of the Amandi subregion in Ribeira Sacra, Galicia, where 'heroic viticulture' is practiced on dizzying slopes overlooking the Sil River. The blend typically pairs Mencía with the rare, structured Brancellao grape. Fermented with 100% whole clusters and foot-trodden in traditional fashion, the wine is aged in old French oak barrels. The result is a highly expressive, mineral-driven red that beautifully marries Portuguese winemaking sensitivity with the wild, Atlantic-influenced terroir of Galicia, showing notes of dark red fruit, slatey minerality, and wild herbs.

Founded in 1842 by Franciscus Marius van der Niepoort, Niepoort is an iconic, independent family-owned house based in Vila Nova de Gaia with historic roots deeply anchored in Portugal's Douro Valley.
