Niepoort is legendary for its classic, elegant, and long-lived Vintage Ports. While Petre's Vintage is an extremely rare or highly specific bottling from their archives, any Vintage Port-style release from Niepoort represents the pinnacle of Douro viticulture. Sourced primarily from ancient, low-yielding vineyards in the Cima Corgo subregion—featuring traditional field blends of Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinto Cão, Tinta Francisca, and Tinta Roriz—the grapes are traditionally foot-trodden in granite lagares to maximize extraction. The wine is aged in large wooden vats in the historic cellars of Vila Nova de Gaia before being bottled unfiltered. Niepoort's signature style emphasizes freshness, balance, and fine-grained tannins over sheer power, resulting in Ports of immense longevity and complexity.
