✨ wine.spec_sheet

Niepoort's Poeirinho is a masterful tribute to the Baga grape, named after the variety's ancient local synonym in the Bairrada region. Dirk Niepoort acquired Quinta de Baixo with a vision to revive the historic, lighter, and highly elegant style of Bairrada reds from the mid-20th century, steering away from modern, over-extracted trends. Sourced from centenarian vines grown on classic clay-limestone soils, this wine is crafted with minimal extraction and aged in large, neutral wooden foudres. The result is a remarkably fresh, mineral-driven red with vibrant acidity, fine-grained chalky tannins, and a pale color that draws frequent comparisons to fine Piedmontese Nebbiolo or classic Burgundy.
