Niepoort's Praferenz Tinto represents the visionary style of Dirk Niepoort, who redefined the Douro Valley by proving it could produce elegant, fresh, and terroir-driven still red wines alongside its legendary Ports. Sourced from traditional field blend vineyards planted on the steep, schistous slopes of the Cima Corgo subregion, this wine showcases the classic Douro grape varieties, including Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Touriga Nacional. True to the Niepoort philosophy, the winemaking focuses on minimal intervention, utilizing partial stainless steel and old oak aging to preserve the vibrant primary fruit, mineral tension, and bright acidity that define the region's unique microclimate.

Niepoort blev grundlagt i 1842 af Franciscus Marius van der Niepoort og er et ikonisk, uafhængigt familieejet hus med base i Vila Nova de Gaia og dybe historiske rødder i Portugals Douro-dal. Huset har i over et århundrede været berømt for sine skelsættende Colheita- og Vintage Ports, men gennemgik en dynamisk renæssance under femtegenerations-visionæren Dirk Niepoort, der banede vejen for den moderne æra af uforstærkede Douro-bordvine i absolut topklasse. Med en kompromisløs forkærlighed for gamle vinmarker med field blends, minimal intervention i vinfremstillingen og et unikt terroirudtryk skaber vinhuset hyldede tørre vine som Batuta, Charme og Redoma sideløbende med nyere projekter i Bairrada og Dão. I dag står Niepoort som et globalt beundret pejlemærke for portugisisk vinkunst, der ubesværet forener en tidløs portvinsarv med innovative, elegante og mineralske bordvine.
