Quinta do Passadouro, located in the rugged Vale do Pinhão within the Cima Corgo subregion of the Douro, is an estate steeped in history, with roots tracing back to the 17th century. For decades, legendary winemaker Dirk Niepoort collaborated closely with the estate, eventually bringing it fully into the Niepoort family portfolio in 2019. The terroir here is defined by extremely steep, schistous slopes and ancient stone-walled terraces that bake under the Portuguese sun but benefit from cool night breezes. The Quinta do Passadouro Vintage Port is crafted from a traditional field blend of old vines, including Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, and Tinta Roriz. In keeping with centuries-old traditions, the grapes are foot-trodden in historic granite lagares to gently extract deep color and structured tannins. The resulting wine is celebrated for its remarkable freshness, intense dark berry profile, distinct mineral core, and exceptional structural elegance.

Niepoort blev grundlagt i 1842 af Franciscus Marius van der Niepoort og er et ikonisk, uafhængigt familieejet hus med base i Vila Nova de Gaia og dybe historiske rødder i Portugals Douro-dal. Huset har i over et århundrede været berømt for sine skelsættende Colheita- og Vintage Ports, men gennemgik en dynamisk renæssance under femtegenerations-visionæren Dirk Niepoort, der banede vejen for den moderne æra af uforstærkede Douro-bordvine i absolut topklasse. Med en kompromisløs forkærlighed for gamle vinmarker med field blends, minimal intervention i vinfremstillingen og et unikt terroirudtryk skaber vinhuset hyldede tørre vine som Batuta, Charme og Redoma sideløbende med nyere projekter i Bairrada og Dão. I dag står Niepoort som et globalt beundret pejlemærke for portugisisk vinkunst, der ubesværet forener en tidløs portvinsarv med innovative, elegante og mineralske bordvine.
