Dirk Niepoort's Turris is a monument to the ancient, high-altitude field-blend vineyards of the Cima Corgo in the Douro Valley. Sourced from a single, south-facing parcel of vines over 130 years old, this wine represents a radical departure from heavily extracted, oak-forward Douro reds, embracing instead a philosophy of elegance, freshness, and pure terroir expression. The field blend, containing dozens of co-planted traditional varieties such as Tinta Amarela, Rufete, and Touriga Franca, is fermented with 100% whole bunches to preserve natural acidity and structure. It is aged not in new French barriques, but in historic, large German oak Fuder casks imported from the Mosel, which allow the wine to breathe without imparting dominant woody flavors. The result is a deeply mineral, vertical, and ethereal red wine that beautifully captures the soul of the Douro's ancient schist soils.

Niepoort blev grundlagt i 1842 af Franciscus Marius van der Niepoort og er et ikonisk, uafhængigt familieejet hus med base i Vila Nova de Gaia og dybe historiske rødder i Portugals Douro-dal. Huset har i over et århundrede været berømt for sine skelsættende Colheita- og Vintage Ports, men gennemgik en dynamisk renæssance under femtegenerations-visionæren Dirk Niepoort, der banede vejen for den moderne æra af uforstærkede Douro-bordvine i absolut topklasse. Med en kompromisløs forkærlighed for gamle vinmarker med field blends, minimal intervention i vinfremstillingen og et unikt terroirudtryk skaber vinhuset hyldede tørre vine som Batuta, Charme og Redoma sideløbende med nyere projekter i Bairrada og Dão. I dag står Niepoort som et globalt beundret pejlemærke for portugisisk vinkunst, der ubesværet forener en tidløs portvinsarv med innovative, elegante og mineralske bordvine.
