✨ wine.spec_sheet

Niepoort's Vinha do Carril is a profound testament to the potential of single-vineyard expressions in the Douro Valley, a region historically dominated by multi-vineyard blends. Sourced from an ancient parcel of vines over 70 years old planted on steep, schistous terraces in the Cima Corgo, this red wine is a field blend of traditional Portuguese varieties, including Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, and Tinta Amarela. Dirk Niepoort's vision was to capture the distinct, austere minerality and concentration of this specific site. Vinified traditionally with foot-treading in granite lagares and aged in French oak casks, Vinha do Carril is celebrated for its incredible structure, vibrant acidity, and deep, dark fruit profile, representing a bridge between the Douro's rugged wildness and Burgundian elegance.
