Born in the maritime hills of Bolgheri along the Tuscan coast, this iconic Bordeaux-style blend typically combines Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The estate's history is deeply intertwined with the modern renaissance of Italian winemaking, where the unique microclimate—cooled by Mediterranean breezes and warmed by reflective light from the Tyrrhenian Sea—allows these varieties to achieve unparalleled complexity. Established in 1981 by Marchese Lodovico Antinori and guided today under the stewardship of the Frescobaldi family with Technical Director Marco Balsimelli, Ornellaia stands as a pillar of coastal Tuscan viticulture. Situated near Bolgheri along the Tyrrhenian seaboard, the estate commands around 100 hectares of meticulously mapped vineyards.
