Born from the legendary Bolgheri estate of Ornellaia, Variazioni in Rosso represents a captivating playground for the estate's winemakers. While Ornellaia is world-renowned for its strict, classic Bordeaux-style blends, this cuvée—translating to 'Variations in Red'—is crafted as an artistic expression that varies with the whim of the vintage, allowing the winemaking team to explore different proportions of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The wine benefits from the unique microclimate of the Tuscan coast, where maritime breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea temper the warm Mediterranean sun, and complex soils of alluvial clay, sand, and volcanic gravel impart structure and minerality. Ornellaia blev grundlagt i 1981 af Marchese Lodovico Antinori og drives i dag af Frescobaldi-familien.
