Osborne's Amontillado 51-1A VORS is a liquid monument to the history of Jerez, sourced from a legendary solera established in 1830. Crafted from 100% Palomino Fino grapes grown in the chalky albariza soils of Andalucia, this rare Sherry begins its life under a biological veil of flor before undergoing decades of slow, oxidative aging. The name '51-1A' refers to the original selection of 51 casks that formed the heart of this solera. Over more than thirty years of maturation, the wine develops an incredibly concentrated and dry profile, marked by notes of roasted hazelnuts, sea air, antique wood, and dried orange peel, embodying the pinnacle of traditional Andalusian winemaking.
🍾 wine.about_producer
Founded in 1772 by English merchant Thomas Osborne Mann in El Puerto de Santa María, Spain, Grupo Osborne is one of the oldest and most prestigious wine and spirits houses in the Iberian Peninsula. While deeply rooted in the Sherry Triangle of Andalusia, Spain, the house also boasts a historic legacy in Portugal's Douro Valley and Vila Nova de Gaia, crafting exceptional Port wines alongside their legendary Sherries. Osborne's production philosophy centers on meticulous aging, utilizing the traditional dynamic solera system for their Sherries in Spain and classic lodge maturation for their Ports in Portugal. Their highly acclaimed portfolio ranges from rare, decades-old Sherries like the Venerable Pedro Ximénez 30YO and Bailén Oloroso to elegant, structured Ports including aged Tawnies, Late Bottled Vintages, and classic Rubies.
