Hailing from the high-elevation slopes of the Yakima Valley, the Slide Mountain Vineyard Cabernet Franc by Owen Roe is a masterclass in cool-climate Washington viticulture. Perched at approximately 1,500 feet, this unique vineyard site benefits from dramatic diurnal temperature swings and excellent cold air drainage, which preserve the grape's natural acidity and signature aromatic complexity. The soils here are rich with calcium carbonate and gravelly silt loam, imparting a distinct mineral tension to the wine. Owen Roe's winemaking philosophy shines through in this bottling, utilizing small-batch fermentations and careful French oak aging to highlight the grape's classic savory profile. The result is a beautifully structured Cabernet Franc that balances bright red fruit with notes of dried herbs, tobacco, and subtle spice, echoing the wild, wind-swept beauty of its high-altitude origin.

Owen Roe blev grundlagt i 1999 af David og Angelica O'Reilly og er opkaldt efter den irske 1600-tals-patriot Owen Roe O'Neill. Vingården opererer i det amerikanske Pacific Northwest og slår bro mellem Yakima Valley i Washington og Willamette Valley i Oregon. Her drager man fuld fordel af kølige mikroklimaer, en varieret undergrund af vulkansk oprindelse og vindblæst løss samt solrige, tørre modningsbetingelser. Efter en kort periode under eksternt ejerskab købte familien O'Reilly vinhuset tilbage i 2024 for at genoplive deres oprindelige, uafhængige vision. Både i vinmarken og i kælderen lægger filosofien vægt på strengt begrænsede høstudbytter, manuel høst, gæring i små partier og en nænsom lagring på franske egetræsfade for at bevare druernes renhed og det enkelte terroirs autentiske typicitet. Med druer fra referenceparceller som Red Willow og DuBrul fremstiller Owen Roe anmelderroste enkeltmarks-vine på Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah og Chardonnay samt prisvenlige cuvéer under etiketterne Sharecropper’s og Corvidae. Fælles for husets vine er en struktureret profil med et stort lagringspotentiale, båret af en spændstig syre og en dyb koncentration.
