Hailing from the high-elevation slopes of the Yakima Valley, the Slide Mountain Vineyard Cabernet Franc by Owen Roe is a masterclass in cool-climate Washington viticulture. Perched at approximately 1,500 feet, this unique vineyard site benefits from dramatic diurnal temperature swings and excellent cold air drainage, which preserve the grape's natural acidity and signature aromatic complexity. The soils here are rich with calcium carbonate and gravelly silt loam, imparting a distinct mineral tension to the wine. Owen Roe's winemaking philosophy shines through in this bottling, utilizing small-batch fermentations and careful French oak aging to highlight the grape's classic savory profile. The result is a beautifully structured Cabernet Franc that balances bright red fruit with notes of dried herbs, tobacco, and subtle spice, echoing the wild, wind-swept beauty of its high-altitude origin.

Owen Roe blev grundlagt i 1999 af vinmageren David O'Reilly og Jerry McNally med en klar ambition om at skabe terroir-drevne vine i verdensklasse fra de ypperste vinmarker i Pacific Northwest. Vingården er opkaldt efter den irske 1600-tals-patriot Owen Roe O'Neill og råder over egne faciliteter samt opkøber druer på tværs af både Columbia Valley og Yakima Valley i Washington samt Willamette Valley i Oregon. Owen Roe arbejder ud fra en filosofi om minimal indgriben, hvor nænsom vinfremstilling og en velafbalanceret fadlagring bringer det unikke særpræg frem fra berømte marker som DuBrul, Red Willow og Union Gap.
