Añejo Tequila
⏳ Drinking Window
Best enjoyed at room temperature (around 18-20°C or 64-68°F) to fully appreciate the complex aromas and oak-matured characteristics. It serves as an excellent neat pour, a slow-sipping spirit for evening appreciation, or as a premium base in spirit-forward cocktails.
🍽️ Food & Wine Pairings
Serve neat in a tequila snifter or Glencairn glass, or on the rocks with a large, slow-melting ice sphere. It also performs well in classic cocktails such as an Añejo Old Fashioned. For food pairings, it complements rich dishes like slow-cooked carnitas, dark chocolate desserts, or aged Gouda cheese.
✨ Technical Specifications
Patrón Añejo Tequila is crafted from 100% Weber Blue Agave harvested in the Highlands of Jalisco, Mexico. The agave hearts are baked in traditional brick ovens before being crushed using both a volcanic stone tahona wheel and a modern roller mill. Following fermentation, the liquid is double-distilled in custom copper pot stills. This expression is matured for a minimum of 12 months in a combination of small French oak, Hungarian oak, and used American whiskey barrels. The resulting blend offers a profile characterized by notes of dried fruit, vanilla, caramel, and light oak, balanced by the natural sweetness of cooked agave.
🍾 About the Producer
Founded in 1989 by John Paul DeJoria and Martin Crowley, Patrón Spirits revolutionized the global spirits industry by pioneering the ultra-premium 100% Weber Blue Agave tequila category. Crafted exclusively at the Hacienda Patrón distillery in the Los Altos highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, the production process honors time-tested artisan methods, including slow steam baking in small brick ovens and crushing cooked agave with both a traditional volcanic stone tahona wheel and modern roller mills. The liquid is fermented in pine wood vats and twice distilled in handcrafted copper pot stills to maintain exceptional purity and distinct floral and citrus notes. Now a cornerstone of the Bacardi portfolio, Patrón is globally celebrated for its benchmark expressions, including Patrón Silver, Reposado, and oak-matured Añejo, alongside rare luxury bottlings.
