Hailing from the steep, granite-rich terraces of the Saint-Joseph appellation in the northern Rhône Valley, Domaine de la Croix des Vignes is a masterful expression of pure Syrah. The name 'Croix des Vignes' (Cross of the Vines) pays homage to the historic stone crosses that dot the region's ancient hillsides, historically erected by local monks to bless the arduous vineyard work on these precipitous slopes. Paul Jaboulet Aîné crafts this wine from hand-harvested grapes grown on south-facing granite soils, which absorb the daytime sun and radiate warmth to ensure optimal ripening. The wine is vinified with traditional methods and aged in French oak barrels, resulting in a beautifully structured red that balances intense dark berry fruit with notes of cracked black pepper, violet, and a distinct smoky minerality characteristic of its terroir.

Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné blev grundlagt i 1834 af Antoine Jaboulet og er en af Rhône-dalens mest hæderkronede vingårde, beliggende på de sagnomspundne skråninger ved Tain-l'Hermitage. Siden 2006 har huset oplevet en dynamisk renæssance under Frey-familiens ledelse, hvor vinmager Caroline Frey har omlagt de legendariske terroirs til komplet økologisk og biodynamisk dyrkning. Huset er verdensberømt for sine skoledannende Rhône-vine – anført af den mytiske Hermitage 'La Chapelle' og den ikoniske 'Domaine de Thalabert' Crozes-Hermitage, suppleret af livlige Côtes du Rhône-aftapninger som den velkendte 'Parallèle 45'-serie.
