Hailing from the legendary slopes of the Hermitage hill in the northern Rhône Valley, 'La Maison Bleue' is a masterful expression of 100% Syrah crafted by the historic house of Paul Jaboulet Aîné. Formerly known as 'La Petite Chapelle', this cuvée was renamed to honor the iconic small house with blue shutters nestled amongst the vines on the Hermitage hill, which the Jaboulet family acquired. While its sibling 'La Chapelle' represents the pinnacle of power from the granitic western slopes, 'La Maison Bleue' draws its fruit primarily from the eastern side of the hill, where clay-rich soils yield a rounder, more velvety, and aromatic profile. The grapes are meticulously sorted and aged in French oak barrels for 12 to 18 months, resulting in a wine that beautifully balances intense dark fruit, cracked black pepper, and subtle smoky notes with elegant, approachable tannins.

Maison Paul Jaboulet Aîné blev grundlagt i 1834 af Antoine Jaboulet og er en af Rhône-dalens mest hæderkronede vingårde, beliggende på de sagnomspundne skråninger ved Tain-l'Hermitage. Siden 2006 har huset oplevet en dynamisk renæssance under Frey-familiens ledelse, hvor vinmager Caroline Frey har omlagt de legendariske terroirs til komplet økologisk og biodynamisk dyrkning. Huset er verdensberømt for sine skoledannende Rhône-vine – anført af den mytiske Hermitage 'La Chapelle' og den ikoniske 'Domaine de Thalabert' Crozes-Hermitage, suppleret af livlige Côtes du Rhône-aftapninger som den velkendte 'Parallèle 45'-serie. Ved at forene millimeterpræcist kælderarbejde med en kompromisløs tilgang til biodiversitet i hver enkelt parcel skaber Paul Jaboulet Aîné strukturerede, gemmeværdige Syrah-vine samt elegante, aromatiske hvidvine, der på smukkeste vis indkapsler regionens grand cru-arv.
