Hailing from the prestigious Gigondas appellation in the southern Rhone Valley, Le Pied de la Cote takes its name from its location at the foot of the majestic, jagged Dentelles de Montmirail mountain range. The vineyard benefits from the unique terroir of limestone scree and clay soils that have eroded from these ancient peaks, combined with a microclimate that enjoys intense Mediterranean sun tempered by cool mountain breezes. Under the stewardship of Paul Jaboulet Aine, this wine is crafted to showcase the powerful yet elegant soul of Gigondas. It undergoes traditional fermentation followed by aging in oak foudres and barrels, resulting in a structured, deeply expressive red characterized by dark forest fruits, cracked black pepper, and the classic herbal perfume of the local garrigue.
