Paul Lato's 'Goldberg Variations No. 1' is a masterful tribute to Johann Sebastian Bach's iconic keyboard composition, reflecting a shared pursuit of structure, harmony, and intricate complexity. Sourced from the legendary Hyde Vineyard in the cool-climate Carneros region of Napa Valley, this Chardonnay benefits from the cooling marine breezes of the San Pablo Bay and ancient clay-loam soils. Larry Hyde's meticulous farming yields fruit of exceptional concentration and bright, natural acidity. In the cellar, Lato applies a gentle, minimal-intervention approach, utilizing native yeast fermentation and aging in select French oak barrels to preserve the pristine stone fruit, citrus, and mineral characteristics of the site while crafting a luxurious, beautifully textured finish.
