Named in honor of Johann Sebastian Bach's masterpiece, the 'Goldberg Variations No. 2' Chardonnay represents winemaker Paul Lato's harmonious blending of artistry and terroir. The fruit is sourced from the legendary Hyde Vineyard in the Carneros region of Napa Valley, a site celebrated for its cool maritime breezes from the San Pablo Bay and ancient clay-loam soils. This unique microclimate allows the Chardonnay grapes—predominantly the low-yielding Wente clone—to ripen slowly, retaining vibrant natural acidity while developing deep, complex flavors. In the cellar, Lato employs traditional French burgundian techniques, including barrel fermentation and aging in select French oak barrels, to craft a wine of exceptional texture, purity, and mineral-driven elegance.
