Pax Mahle's GMS is a thoughtful, cool-climate California homage to the classic blends of the Southern Rhône Valley. Sourced from select organic and sustainably farmed vineyards across Sonoma and Mendocino counties, this red blend eschews the heavy, over-extracted style historically associated with domestic GSMs. Instead, Pax coaxes out a vibrant, savory, and highly aromatic profile. Grenache leads with bright red berry fruit and white pepper, Mourvèdre lends rustic earthiness, leather, and structural grip, and Syrah grounds the blend with dark fruit and smoky undertones. Utilizing traditional techniques like whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts and aging in neutral French oak and concrete vats, this wine captures the breezy, coastal-influenced terroir of Northern California with exceptional clarity and energy.

Da Pax og Pam Mahle grundlagde Pax Wines i 2000, markerede vinhuset sig hurtigt som en toneangivende fortaler for Californiens kølige vindyrkningsområder og høstede tidligt stor anerkendelse for sine enkeltmarks-Syrahs. Med base i et urbant vineri og smagerum i Sebastopols pulserende Barlow-distrikt arbejder vinhuset tæt sammen med avlere på tværs af det kystnære Sonoma County, Mendocino og Sierra Foothills. Vinavlen er forankret i historiske parceller, der dyrkes økologisk og bæredygtigt på undergrunde af opbrudt skifer, marint sandsten og forvitret granit. Hvor de tidlige årgange var mere fyldige og kraftfulde, har stilen siden udviklet sig kompromisløst mod 'low intervention'-vinifikation med hele klaser trådt med fødderne, spontangæring med det naturlige gær, modning på neutrale franske egetræsfade og minimal svovltilsætning. Ud over skelsættende Syrah-aftapninger som Alder Springs, Griffin's Lair og Castelli-Knight Ranch rummer porteføljen også sjældne og historiske hvide sorter – herunder gamle vinstokke med Chenin Blanc, Vermentino og Pinot Blanc – som hyldes for deres spændstige syre, saltede gennemsigtighed og ranke mineralitet.
