Sourced from the wind-swept, fog-shrouded slopes of the Sonoma Coast, the Majik Vineyard is a testament to cool-climate viticulture at its absolute limits. Situated in the Sebastopol Hills, this site is heavily influenced by the nearby Pacific Ocean, forcing the Syrah grapes to ripen slowly and retain vibrant acidity. Pax Mahle utilizes traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques to capture this extreme terroir, employing whole-cluster fermentation with native yeasts and aging the wine in neutral French oak. The resulting Syrah is remarkably expressive and savory, defined by its signature aromas of cracked black pepper, cured olives, and wild mountain herbs, underpinned by a lean, athletic structure that echoes the classic Côte-Rôtie style while maintaining a distinct Californian coastal soul.

Pax Wines blev grundlagt i 2000 af Pax og Pam Mahle og er et anerkendt vinhus beliggende i Sebastopol i Sonoma County, Californien. Vingården er kendt som en pioner inden for 'New California'-bølgen og har særligt fokus på kystnære terroirs med køligt klima i Sonoma og Mendocino County. Hos Pax arbejder man ud fra en minimalistisk, klassisk europæisk tilgang til vinfremstillingen med brug af helklasegæring, vildgær samt modning på neutrale franske egetræsfade og betontanke for at bevare renhed og friskhed. Vinhuset er især berømmet for sine stilskabende, mineralske og krydrede Syrah-vine – herunder aftapningerne fra Sonoma-Hillsides og Alder Springs Vineyard – foruden dynamiske, terroirprægede fortolkninger af Gamay, Chenin Blanc og historiske druesorter.
