Penfolds Yattarna Chardonnay, first released in 1998 with the 1995 vintage, represents the culmination of one of the most ambitious white winemaking projects in Australian history. Known during its development as the 'White Grange' project, it required 144 winemaking trials before the perfect style was unlocked—hence its official designation, Bin 144. 'Yattarna,' an Indigenous Australian word meaning 'little by little' or 'gradually,' reflects the patient, meticulous pursuit of perfection. Sourced from premier cool-climate regions including Tasmania, Tumbarumba, and the Adelaide Hills, this multi-regional blend is celebrated for its laser-like acidity, intense stone fruit and citrus profile, and sophisticated French oak integration. It successfully redefined premium Australian Chardonnay, shifting the paradigm away from heavy, over-oaked styles toward elegance, restraint, and exceptional longevity.

Founded in 1844 by Dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold and his wife Mary at the Magill Estate in South Australia, Penfolds is one of Australia's oldest and most iconic wine producers.
