First released with the 2008 vintage, this wine represents a departure from Penfolds' traditional multi-regional blending philosophy, instead shining a spotlight on a single, highly acclaimed sub-region. The red-brown earth and clay soils of Marananga yield Shiraz of immense power, deep color, and rich, dark fruit profiles. Penfolds matures this expression in a combination of French and American oak hogsheads and puncheons, marrying the intense, savory, and spicy characteristics of the fruit with structured, velvety tannins. It is a modern classic that honors the unique heritage of Barossa's western ridge.

Penfolds blev grundlagt i 1844 af dr. Christopher Rawson Penfold og hans hustru Mary på Magill Estate i South Australia og er i dag et af Australiens ældste og mest ikoniske vinhuse.
