An extraordinary rarity in the landscape of Madeira, Moscatel Graúdo (the local name for Muscat of Alexandria) represents a historic and highly limited style of fortified wine. While the island is renowned for its classic noble grapes, Pereira D'Oliveira holds some of the most precious, ancient casks of Moscatel in existence. Grown on warm, sun-drenched coastal terraces, the grapes undergo fermentation before being fortified and subjected to the traditional canteiro aging process in seasoned oak casks. Over decades of slow, oxidative maturation in Funchal's warm lofts, the grape's intense floral and citrus blossom aromas evolve into a dark, complex elixir. It reveals layers of dried figs, molasses, exotic spices, and black tea, all brilliantly lifted by Madeira's hallmark vibrant acidity.

Founded in 1850 by João Pereira d'Oliveira, Pereira D'Oliveira is an esteemed, independent family-owned Madeira house based in the historic center of Funchal on Madeira Island, Portugal. Renowned for its vast reserves of historic library stocks acquired through family heritage and the assimilation of notable historic lodges, the house practices traditional canteiro aging in seasoned oak casks, allowing natural warmth to slowly concentrate and mature the wines over decades or even centuries. Under generations of family stewardship, the house crafts exceptionally long-lived, complex fortified wines renowned for their vivid acidity and depth, spanning dry to luscious styles made from noble varieties including Sercial, Verdelho, Bual, Malvasia, and legendary rare bottlings of Terrantez.
