While Madeira is famous for its classic noble grapes, the rare Moscatel (historically Moscatel Gra--do or Muscat of Alexandria) represents a captivating, highly aromatic chapter in the island's history. Pereira D'Oliveira, legendary guardians of Madeira's liquid history, are among the very few houses that still preserve and release this scarce style. The Moscatel Reserva is crafted using the traditional canteiro method, where the fortified wine is aged in seasoned oak casks in warm attics, allowing natural heat and gentle evaporation to concentrate its sugars and acids over time. This slow, oxidative journey imbues the wine with a deep amber hue and an incredibly complex bouquet of dried orange peel, dark honey, toasted nuts, and exotic spices, all balanced by the vibrant, electric acidity characteristic of the island's volcanic soils.
