Hailing from the stony plains of the Friuli DOC, Pitars Pinot Grigio is a brilliant expression of northeastern Italy's unique terroir. The vineyards thrive in the alluvial soils of the Tagliamento river basin, locally characterized by 'claps'—smooth, white river pebbles that cover the ground. These stones absorb warmth during the sunny days and radiate it back to the vines at night, while the cool breezes descending from the nearby Alps preserve the grape's natural acidity and bright aromatic profile. This natural temperature regulation, combined with modern, temperature-controlled stainless steel vinification, yields a Pinot Grigio of exceptional purity, showcasing delicate floral aromas, ripe pear, and a distinctive, stony minerality that reflects its rugged riverbed origins.

Rooted in a winemaking heritage that dates back to 1880 with Romano Pittaro, Pitars is a historic family-owned estate located in San Martino al Tagliamento within the Friuli Grave region of northeastern Italy. Today, the winery is managed by the Pittaro brothers—Loris, Bruno, Mauro, and Valter—who oversee a state-of-the-art, eco-sustainable cellar designed to respect the surrounding environment. The estate's vineyards benefit from the unique microclimate and stony, alluvial soils of the Tagliamento river basin, which impart a distinct minerality to their wines. Pitars is highly regarded for its precise, elegant white wines, most notably its signature Pinot Grigio, which showcases the vibrant acidity and aromatic purity characteristic of Friulian terroir.
