The classic Barbaresco DOCG from Produttori del Barbaresco is widely considered the benchmark standard for the region. The cooperative's history is legendary: in 1894, Domizio Cavazza founded the first 'Cantine Sociali' to distinguish Barbaresco from neighboring Barolo, proving the local Nebbiolo had its own unique, elegant identity. Although closed during fascism, the cooperative was resurrected in 1958 by the local priest, Don Fiorino Marengo, who united 19 struggling growers to preserve their heritage. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo sourced from premium estate vineyards across the appellation, this wine undergoes traditional fermentation and is aged for up to two years in large Slavonian oak casks. The result is a beautifully structured red showcasing classic aromas of dried cherries, rose petals, anise, and white pepper, underpinned by firm tannins and vibrant acidity.
