✨ wine.spec_sheet
The Riserva Don Fiorino is a monumental tribute to Don Fiorino Marengo, the visionary parish priest of Barbaresco who, in 1958, gathered nineteen local growers to establish the Produttori del Barbaresco cooperative, saving the region's viticulture from post-war economic ruin. Crafted only in exceptional vintages, this rare Riserva departs from the cooperative's traditional single-vineyard bottlings. Instead, it is a masterfully curated blend of 100% Nebbiolo sourced from the cooperative's nine legendary crus, including Rabajà, Asili, and Montestefano. Fermented in traditional concrete vats and aged for 36 months in large Slavonian oak casks, this wine represents the ultimate synthesis of Barbaresco's diverse clay and limestone terroirs, marrying the structural power of the northern vineyards with the ethereal elegance of the southern slopes.
🍾 wine.about_producer
Founded in 1958 by the local parish priest Don Fiorino Marengo, Produttori del Barbaresco is a legendary cooperative winery located in the village of Barbaresco within Italy's Piedmont region. Uniting nineteen small growers to preserve the heritage of the Nebbiolo grape, the estate revived a tradition of quality first established by Domizio Cavazza in 1894. The winery is globally renowned for its uncompromising commitment to the Nebbiolo variety, producing a classic Barbaresco DOCG alongside nine distinct single-vineyard Riservas, such as Moccagatta, which are released only in exceptional vintages. Vinified using traditional methods, including long maceration and aging in large Slavonian oak casks, these wines are celebrated worldwide for their structure, elegance, and profound expression of terroir.
