Prunotto's Bricco Colma is a fascinating exploration of Piedmontese viticulture, crafted from the rare Albarossa grape. Created in 1938 by Professor Giovanni Dalmasso, Albarossa was originally believed to be a cross between Nebbiolo and Barbera, though modern genetics revealed the parents to be Chatus (Nebbiolo di Dronero) and Barbera. Sourced from the sun-drenched, clay-limestone soils of the high-altitude Bricco Colma vineyard in Monferrato, this wine represents Prunotto's dedication to restoring and celebrating indigenous Piedmontese varieties. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, resulting in a deeply colored, robust red that beautifully marries the vibrant acidity and dark fruit character of Barbera with the structured, spicy complexity of its heritage.

Established in 1923 when Alfredo Prunotto acquired the cooperative 'Ai Vini delle Langhe,' the Prunotto winery is situated in Alba, in the heart of Italy's Piedmont region. Under the stewardship of the Antinori family since 1989, the estate has consistently championed the diverse terroirs of the Langhe and Monferrato hills. Prunotto balances traditional Piedmontese winemaking practices, such as aging in large oak casks, with modern precision to craft elegant, terroir-driven wines. The winery is celebrated for its exceptional single-vineyard expressions, including the Barolo Bussia and Barbaresco Bric Turot, alongside classic regional styles like Nebbiolo d'Alba Occhetti and Roero Arneis.
