Prunotto's Bussia is a landmark bottling in the history of Piedmont. In 1961, winemaker Beppe Colla made the revolutionary decision to vinify and bottle grapes from the prestigious Bussia vineyard in Monforte d'Alba separately, helping to pioneer the single-vineyard 'cru' concept in Barolo. Crafted from 100% Nebbiolo, this wine comes from a spectacular natural amphitheater where the clay and sandy silt soils of the Tortonian era impart both formidable structure and profound elegance. Aged traditionally in large French oak casks, it reveals classic aromas of dried roses, dark cherries, licorice, and forest floor, supported by firm, noble tannins that reflect the majestic terroir of Monforte.
🍾 wine.about_producer
Established in 1923 when Alfredo Prunotto acquired the cooperative 'Ai Vini delle Langhe,' the Prunotto winery is situated in Alba, in the heart of Italy's Piedmont region. Under the stewardship of the Antinori family since 1989, the estate has consistently championed the diverse terroirs of the Langhe and Monferrato hills. Prunotto balances traditional Piedmontese winemaking practices, such as aging in large oak casks, with modern precision to craft elegant, terroir-driven wines. The winery is celebrated for its exceptional single-vineyard expressions, including the Barolo Bussia and Barbaresco Bric Turot, alongside classic regional styles like Nebbiolo d'Alba Occhetti and Roero Arneis.
