Prunotto's Pian Romualdo is a benchmark Barbera d'Alba Superiore, originating from the prestigious estate founded by Alfredo Prunotto in the early 20th century and now nurtured under the stewardship of the Antinori family. The wine takes its name from the historic Pian Romualdo vineyard located in Monforte d'Alba, a site renowned for its high altitude and calcium-rich clay and sand soils. This unique terroir imparts exceptional structure and a vibrant, refreshing acidity to the Barbera grape. Traditionally aged for approximately 12 months in a combination of large oak casks and smaller barrels, this red wine showcases a deep ruby color with violet hues, expressing intense aromas of dark cherries, blackberries, and subtle hints of spices and cocoa, embodying the perfect harmony between rustic Piedmontese tradition and modern elegance.

Originally established in 1904 as the cooperative 'Ai Vini delle Langhe', the estate was acquired and redefined by visionary winemaker Alfredo Prunotto in 1922, establishing a legacy of excellence in Alba, Piedmont. After decades of pioneering single-vineyard cru bottlings under the Colla family, the historic estate became part of the Marchesi Antinori family in 1989, blending centuries-old Tuscan heritage with classic Piedmontese tradition. Prunotto champions precision viticulture and terroir-focused winemaking across the region's top terroirs, crafting legendary Nebbiolo expressions such as Barolo Bussia and Barbaresco Bric Turot alongside vibrant Barbera d'Asti, Roero Arneis, and fine grappas.
