✨ Technical Specifications
Steeped in the rich winemaking history of Piedmont, Prunotto has been a standard-bearer of quality since Alfredo Prunotto took over the social cellar of Alba in 1923. The Romualdo bottling is a tribute to this legacy, capturing the vibrant soul of the Barbera grape grown in the prestigious Asti hills. Here, the unique terroir of calcareous clay and marine sands imparts a distinct elegance and mineral complexity to the grape. Prunotto crafts Romualdo with a deep respect for tradition, utilizing careful temperature-controlled fermentation followed by aging in oak casks to soften Barbera's naturally bright acidity. The result is a beautifully structured red wine that weaves together intense aromas of ripe blackberries and dark cherries with warm undertones of cocoa, tobacco, and sweet wood spices, embodying the rustic yet refined spirit of Piedmontese hillsides.
🍾 About the Producer
Originally established in 1904 as the cooperative 'Ai Vini delle Langhe', the estate was acquired and redefined by visionary winemaker Alfredo Prunotto in 1922, establishing a legacy of excellence in Alba, Piedmont. After decades of pioneering single-vineyard cru bottlings under the Colla family, the historic estate became part of the Marchesi Antinori family in 1989, blending centuries-old Tuscan heritage with classic Piedmontese tradition. Prunotto champions precision viticulture and terroir-focused winemaking across the region's top terroirs, crafting legendary Nebbiolo expressions such as Barolo Bussia and Barbaresco Bric Turot alongside vibrant Barbera d'Asti, Roero Arneis, and fine grappas.
