Porca de Murca is one of Portugal's oldest and most celebrated everyday wine brands, first released by Real Companhia Velha in 1928. The name pays homage to a legendary stone monument in the Douro town of Murca—a prehistoric granite statue of a wild boar or sow that, according to local folklore, terrorized the region before being defeated by brave villagers. This fresh, aromatic white wine is sourced from high-altitude vineyards in the Douro Valley, where cooler temperatures preserve the natural acidity of traditional Portuguese grape varieties. Fermented entirely in stainless steel tanks to maintain its vibrant fruit profile, it offers a classic, approachable expression of Douro's terroir, characterized by bright citrus notes and a crisp, mineral finish.

Founded in 1756 by Royal Charter of King José I under the guidance of the Marquis of Pombal, Real Companhia Velha is the oldest and most historic wine enterprise in Portugal. With its storied maturation cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia and sprawling estate vineyards across the Douro Valley, the company was central to the creation of the world's first officially demarcated wine region.
