Quinta dos Aciprestes is located on the left bank of the Douro River in the Cima Corgo sub-region, stretching across slopes that face the mouth of the Tua River. The estate's name is derived from the historic cypress trees ('aciprestes' in Portuguese) that stand as sentinels along the property, which historically served as vital landmarks for sailors navigating the treacherous waters of the Douro before it was dammed. This terroir is characterized by its pure schist soils and a warm microclimate, which together yield grapes of exceptional maturity and concentration. The Quinta dos Aciprestes Tinto is crafted to highlight this unique environment, utilizing traditional Douro grape varieties to produce a structured, fruit-forward red wine with smooth tannins and a distinct mineral finish.
