Hailing from the historic terraced slopes of the Douro Valley, Raspa Saias Tinto is a vibrant expression of Portugal's winemaking heritage, crafted by the venerable Real Companhia Velha. The name 'Raspa Saias'—translating colloquially to 'skirt-rustler'—evokes the lively spirit of traditional Portuguese folk dances, where the energetic spinning of dancers causes their colorful skirts to sweep and rustle. This wine captures that same rustic charm and joyful energy. Unlike the heavy, highly structured reds often associated with the Douro, Raspa Saias is crafted in an approachable, fruit-forward style. It utilizes traditional Douro grape varieties, fermented primarily in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to preserve the bright, youthful characters of red berries, wild plums, and subtle floral undertones. It offers a delightful glimpse into the everyday drinking culture of the Douro, balancing fresh acidity with soft, round tannins.

Real Companhia Velha blev grundlagt i 1756 ved kongeligt dekret af kong José I under ledelse af Marquês de Pombal og er Portugals ældste og mest historiske vinhus. Med sine legendariske modningskældre i Vila Nova de Gaia og vidtstrakte vinmarker i Dourodalen spillede huset en afgørende rolle i etableringen af verdens første officielt afgrænsede vinregion.
