✨ Technical Specifications

The Josephshof is one of the Mosel's most legendary monopole vineyards, located in the village of Graach and owned exclusively by Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt since 1858. Originally belonging to the Abbey of Saint Martin in Trier, this historic site features deep, moisture-retaining Devonian slate soils with a high proportion of clay. This unique terroir yields a dry Grosses Gewachs (GG) Riesling of remarkable power, texture, and spicy complexity, distinct from the lighter, more floral styles of neighboring sites. Fermented dry with indigenous yeasts and aged on its fine lees, this wine beautifully marries the intense minerality of the Mosel with a rich, structured palate, showcasing notes of stone fruit, wild herbs, and a signature smoky, flinty undertone.

🍾 About the Producer

With a documented winemaking legacy dating back to 1349, Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is one of the most historic and revered wine estates in Germany's Mosel region. Headquartered at Schloss Marienlay in the Ruwer valley and owned by the Reh family since 1978, the estate holds an extraordinary footprint spanning the three distinct river valleys of the Mosel, Saar, and Ruwer. Dedicated almost exclusively to steep-slope Riesling cultivation, the winery stewards world-renowned VDP.Grosse Lage vineyard sites such as the Saar's Scharzhofberger, the Ruwer's Kaseler Nies'chen, and their historic Mosel monopole, Josephshöfer. Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt is celebrated for crafting site-expressive, mineral-driven Rieslings that range from vibrant dry expressions to profound, age-worthy noble sweet Prädikat wines.
