Created in 1874 by Paul-Émile Rémy Martin, Louis XIII is the pinnacle of Cognac craftsmanship, named to honor the French monarch who first recognized Cognac as a distinct category of spirit. This legendary cuvée is an extraordinary blend of up to 1,200 individual eaux-de-vie sourced exclusively from Grande Champagne, the premier cru of the region. These precious spirits are aged over decades in 'tierçons'—historic, thin-walled oak casks originally used for transport. Each decanter represents the life's work of generations of Cellar Masters, who carefully select and blend the oldest and rarest spirits to maintain a consistent masterwork of dried fruits, myrrh, honey, and leather.

Founded in 1724 by the French winegrower of the same name, Rémy Martin is one of the oldest and most prestigious Cognac houses, based in the historic town of Cognac, France. The house is uniquely celebrated for its exclusive focus on Cognac Fine Champagne, sourcing grapes solely from the prestigious Grande Champagne and Petite Champagne crus to craft spirits of exceptional aging potential. Utilizing traditional double distillation on the lees in small copper pot stills, Rémy Martin ages its eaux-de-vie in toasted Limousin oak casks to develop its signature rich, aromatic profile. This meticulous craftsmanship culminates in world-renowned masterpieces, ranging from their classic VSOP and XO expressions to the legendary, ultra-premium Louis XIII.
