Hailing from the historic village of Rorschwihr, the Riesling Silberberg is a masterclass in the slow-aging philosophy of Domaine Rolly Gassmann. The name 'Silberberg' translates to 'Silver Mountain,' a nod to the ancient silver mining history of the region and the shimmering, mineral-rich soils of this prized lieu-dit. Composed of heavy marly-limestone and clay, this terroir imparts a profound structural depth and a distinct, flinty minerality to the Riesling grape. Rolly Gassmann approaches this wine with legendary patience, allowing the grapes to achieve optimal ripeness—often with a touch of noble rot—before a slow fermentation using indigenous yeasts. The wine is then aged for years in the estate's labyrinthine cellars before it is deemed ready for the world. The result is a beautifully textured, off-dry Riesling that seamlessly balances luscious orchard fruit sweetness with a vibrant, electric spine of acidity.

Domaine Rolly Gassmann i den alsidiske landsby Rorschwihr blev grundlagt i 1967 ved foreningen af to historiske vinbavende slægter, hvis rødder i regionen rækker helt tilbage til henholdsvis 1611 og 1676. I dag drives ejendommen af Pierre Gassmann og hans familie, som forvalter over 50 hektar vinmarker fordelt på en kompleks mosaik af geologisk forskelligartede terroirs. Dyrkningen sker ud fra et kompromisløst engagement i bæredygtige og biodynamiske principper. Huset er særligt berømt for sin tålmodige filosofi om at lagre vinene på flaske i årevis – ofte i årtier – før frigivelse, hvilket tilfører dem en enestående modenhed og harmoni. Domaine Rolly Gassmann nyder stor international anerkendelse for sine overdådige halvtørre og søde hvidvine, herunder udtryksfulde cuvéer på Riesling, Pinot Gris og Gewurztraminer samt legendariske Vendanges Tardives og Sélection de Grains Nobles.
