Founded in 1877 by cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino in Pontassieve, Ruffino has long been a beacon of Tuscan winemaking, famously becoming the official provider to the Italian royal family. The Platinum 21 represents a contemporary chapter in this storied legacy, crafted as a modern Tuscan red that marries the region's soul with international appeal. Typically composed of a blend featuring Tuscany's signature Sangiovese alongside international varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, this wine undergoes careful aging in oak casks. This process tempers the vibrant, rustic acidity of the Sangiovese with the plush, velvety tannins of the French varietals. The grapes are sourced from select hillside vineyards where galestro and clay soils impart a distinctive mineral undertone and robust structure, yielding a wine that is both historically grounded and elegantly modern.

Ruffino blev grundlagt i 1877 i Pontassieve nær Firenze af fætrene Ilario og Leopoldo Ruffino og har siden udviklet sig til en af de mest ikoniske ambassadører for toscansk vinavl. Vingården opnåede tidligt stor anerkendelse som officiel hofleverandør til det italienske kongehus – en hæder, der blev udødeliggjort med flagskibet Riserva Ducale, skabt i 1927 til ære for hertugen af Aosta.
