Ruffino, established in Pontassieve in 1877 by cousins Ilario and Leopoldo Ruffino, is one of Tuscany's most storied wine houses. While globally renowned for pioneering Chianti, Ruffino historically crafted specialty releases under the 'Croce d'Oro' (Golden Cross) designation. The Vino Liquoroso Soliento Rosso is a rare, fortified sweet red wine that represents the classic Italian tradition of 'vini da meditazione' (meditation wines). Made by arresting the fermentation of red grapes with grape spirit, this process preserves the natural sweetness of the must while boosting the alcohol content. This traditional technique results in a rich, velvety dessert wine showcasing notes of dried plums, dark cherry compote, sweet baking spices, and a warm, lingering finish that pays homage to late 19th-century Italian winemaking heritage.

Ruffino blev grundlagt i 1877 i Pontassieve nær Firenze af fætrene Ilario og Leopoldo Ruffino og har siden udviklet sig til en af de mest ikoniske ambassadører for toscansk vinavl.
