While Santa Margherita is globally renowned for its pioneering white wines, the producer has a historic and revered presence in Tuscany. Crafting classic Tuscan red wines, particularly from the high-altitude hills of the Chianti Classico zone, they focus on the noble Sangiovese grape. These wines are shaped by the region's signature 'galestro' clay-schist soils and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts, which impart vibrant acidity and elegant structure. The traditional winemaking process involves careful maceration and aging in oak casks, resulting in a red wine that beautifully balances bright red cherry fruit, wild herbs, and earthy undertones, carrying forward the rich legacy of Tuscan viticulture.

Santa Margherita blev grundlagt i 1935 af grev Gaetano Marzotto og startede som et ambitiøst landbrugsprojekt i Fossalta di Portogruaro. Sidenhen har vinhuset udviklet sig til et af Italiens mest ikoniske og internationalt anerkendte vinhuse. I 1961 revolutionerede vineriet den globale vinkultur, da det som pioner introducerede hvidvinificering af de rosafarvede Pinot Grigio-druer i Adige-dalen. Det resulterede i en frisk, sprød og aromatisk stil, som genopfandt italiensk hvidvin. I dag råder Santa Margherita over førsteklasses vinmarker i nogle af Italiens mest berømte terroirs, herunder Alto Adige, Valdobbiadene, Toscana og Lombardiet. Vinhuset drives med en dyb dedikation til bæredygtighed, præcision og regional autenticitet, og det er særligt berømt for sin stilskabende Pinot Grigio, elegante mousserende Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore, raffinerede Chianti Classico-rødvine samt livlige rosévine.
