While Santa Margherita is globally renowned for its pioneering white wines, the producer has a historic and revered presence in Tuscany. Crafting classic Tuscan red wines, particularly from the high-altitude hills of the Chianti Classico zone, they focus on the noble Sangiovese grape. These wines are shaped by the region's signature 'galestro' clay-schist soils and dramatic diurnal temperature shifts, which impart vibrant acidity and elegant structure. The traditional winemaking process involves careful maceration and aging in oak casks, resulting in a red wine that beautifully balances bright red cherry fruit, wild herbs, and earthy undertones, carrying forward the rich legacy of Tuscan viticulture.

Santa Margherita blev grundlagt i 1935 af grev Gaetano Marzotto, som opkaldte vinhuset efter sin hustru, og har siden udviklet sig til en af Italiens mest toneangivende vininstitutioner. Marzotto forvandlede oprindeligt sumpområder og landbrugsjord i det østlige Veneto til en moderne, fremsynet mønsterbedrift. I 1961 revolutionerede huset den internationale hvidvinsverden ved at vinificere Pinot Grigio fra Alto Adige helt 'in bianco' – uden skindkontakt. Resultatet blev en sprød, frisk og ren alpestil, der satte en helt ny global standard. I dag ledes produktionen af teknisk direktør Loris Vazzoler, og Santa Margherita råder over et vidtforgrenet netværk af ejendomme i Trentino-Alto Adige, på de moræneformede skråninger i Valdobbiadene samt i Lombardiet og Toscana. Dyrkningen hviler på principper om certificeret bæredygtighed, soldrevne vinerier og bevarelse af biodiversitet under Biodiversity Friend-certificeringen. Porteføljen fuldendes af stilskabende vine som Valdadige Pinot Grigio, enkeltmarksvinen 'Impronta del Fondatore', Rive di Refrontolo Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore DOCG samt elegante regionale fortolkninger som Stilrose og Chianti Classico.
