Kurt's Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon is a deeply personal estate wine from Scheid Vineyards, named in loving memory of founder Al Scheid's late son, Kurt. Planted in 1999, Kurt's Vineyard is situated in the San Lucas AVA of southern Monterey County. Unlike the chilly northern reaches of the Salinas Valley, San Lucas is tucked further inland, where warm, sun-drenched days allow Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to achieve optimal ripeness, while the dramatic evening temperature drops preserve the grape's natural acidity. The alluvial loam soils of the vineyard encourage deep root growth, resulting in a structured, full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is traditionally aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels, yielding a classic profile rich with dark blackberry, cassis, and subtle notes of toasted vanilla and baking spice.
