Scheid Vineyards' Clone 115 Pinot Noir is a terroir-driven exploration of one of the most celebrated Dijon clones in California's cool-climate Monterey County. Originating from the Pinot Noir heartland of Burgundy, Clone 115 is prized by winemakers for its small berries, which yield intense color, complex aromatics, and elegant structure. Grown in Scheid's estate vineyards along the wind-swept Salinas Valley, the vines are heavily influenced by the 'Blue Grand Canyon' of Monterey Bay—a deep underwater canyon that funnels cold marine air and fog down the valley daily. This natural air conditioning slows ripening, allowing the grapes to develop deep, concentrated flavors of dark cherry, black tea, and earthy spices while preserving vibrant acidity. The wine is typically aged in French oak barrels to integrate its fine-grained tannins and add subtle notes of toasted vanilla.
