Scheid Vineyards' Viognier is a brilliant expression of this classic Rhône variety, thriving within the unique microclimates of Monterey County. Viognier is notoriously difficult to cultivate, requiring precise warmth to develop its signature exotic aromatics of white peach, nectarine, and honeysuckle. In Scheid's estate vineyards, the dramatic diurnal temperature swings of the Salinas Valley provide the perfect balance. Chilly afternoon winds sweeping down from Monterey Bay preserve the grape's natural acidity, preventing the wine from becoming overly heavy. Typically fermented in stainless steel to maintain its bright, floral purity, a small portion is occasionally aged in neutral oak to impart a subtle richness and luscious texture to the palate.

Scheid Vineyards blev grundlagt i 1972 af Al Scheid og er en pionervirksomhed beliggende i hjertet af Salinas Valley i Californiens Monterey County. Gennem fem årtier har den familieejede vingård udvidet sit virke til tolv unikke vinmarker, hvor man udnytter den markante, kølende havbrise fra Monterey Bay til at dyrke en bred vifte af druesorter. Vingården er dybt engageret i bæredygtighed, drives udelukkende af vedvarende vindenergi og arbejder efter strenge, certificerede bæredygtige principper. Scheid Vineyards er anerkendt for sin alsidige portefølje af levende hvid-, rød- og rosévine og fremstiller både roste enkeltdruevine på eksempelvis Cabernet Sauvignon, Albariño og Barbera samt håndværksmæssige cuvéer som deres Claret Reserve.
