Scotchmans Hill Riesling is a pristine expression of cool-climate viticulture from the wind-swept Bellarine Peninsula in Victoria. The region's maritime climate, moderated by the chilly waters of Bass Strait and Port Phillip Bay, slows the ripening process, allowing the Riesling grapes to develop intense aromatic profiles while retaining a vibrant, laser-like natural acidity. Grown on ancient black volcanic soils overlaying limestone and clay, this wine beautifully reflects its unique terroir through a distinct mineral drive. Historically, the Bellarine Peninsula has a rich viticultural heritage dating back to the mid-19th century, which was revived in the late 20th century by pioneering estates. The winemaking philosophy for this Riesling emphasizes temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel to preserve the pure, expressive fruit characters of fresh lime, citrus blossom, and wet stone.

Scotchmans Hill blev grundlagt i 1982 af David og Vivienne Browne på et tidligere malkekvægsbrug og regnes i dag for både pioneren og det ultimative pejlemærke på Victorias Bellarine Peninsula i vinregionen Geelong. Vinmarkerne ligger højt hævet på halvøens udslukte vulkanske fremspring, hvor vinstokkene nyder godt af et frugtbart lag af sort basaltler over en kalkstensholdig undergrund samt et maritimt mikroklima, der tempereres af Port Phillip Bay og det Sydlige Ishav. Chefvinmager Robin Brockett har stået i spidsen for vineriet siden 1988 og arbejder ud fra principper om minimal indgriben med certificering under Sustainable Winegrowing Australia. Hans filosofi i kælderen fremhæver terroirets renhed gennem spontangæring, nænsom brug af franske egetræsfade og forlænget bærmekontakt.
